Do You Have Charisma? For centuries, influential leaders like
Alexander the Great, Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Queen Victoria, Henry the 8th
and Robert Kennedy have used their CHARISMA to be noticed, respected, listened
to, and followed. A person with charisma fascinates us by
what they do … and captivates us with what they say. They have a noticeable magnetism,
appeal and attractiveness, as well as an ability to communicate and persuade. Some believe that charisma is a God-given
gift, and people that possess it just have to use their personal being to get
what they want. I believe that we are ALL born with
Charisma, but we need to nurture it and help it grow. For
example, a few years ago, I was teaching a theatre class in a poor area of
Paris to 30 children that were 8 and 9 years old. It was a problem class with
children who often misbehaved. These children came from a variety of
different countries and their teacher had to deal with 23 unique languages. Finding
a quick and effective way to communicate was a HUGE challenge, so they decided
to try theatre to bridge the gap. It wasn’t long before the behaviour of
every student started to improve. By the end of the school year, the entire
class were completely different. They were
happier, more self-confident and focused.
So much so that the head teacher approached me to ask: “What have you
done to the children? Especially Jason, he was one of the worst pupils we had
at our school?” “I’ve done nothing unusual”, I replied. “I
only helped the children to find their own confidence and inner charisma
through theatre.” You see, normally this young boy Jason
misbehaved and distracted other pupils, but in my theatre class he was focused,
enthusiastic and charismatic. When he was on stage everyone was drawn to him
like a magnet. Jason had found his innate charisma. And,
by helping him nourish it and let it grow, he blossomed with confidence and
charisma. To find out how you can tap into your
innate charisma, turn to the next page. “Charisma can make you a better leader, teacher, seller, speaker and lover!” But
what exactly is charisma? Historically, Charisma is considered as a
grace bestowed on a person by God. It is
part of a person’s inner personality that is often misinterpreted as their
charm or magnetism. But charm is a type of behaviour and Charisma is a WAY OF
LIFE! A charismatic person lives life with energy,
presence and personal impact. They are empathetic. They listen intently and
they know how to adapt words and body language to make people more comfortable.
Being a charismatic person is far more
than being able to charm someone. Charismatic people have a vision. They know
their true purpose in life and want to do their part to make world a better place,
which shows in everything they do. It’s their clear and focused vision that
makes them powerful, seductive, inspiring and magnetic. Their
vision attracts people and opportunities, gives people hope and can influence
change on a massive scale. Charismatic people believe in themselves, so they always
behave like winners. They know that they can rise above challenges and overcome
their fears and uncertainty, and are relied upon and trusted. When you have charisma the world becomes your oyster and you
can get anything you want from life. You can land a better job, improve your relationships
and open the door to many NEW opportunities. “Charisma is a magnet that attracts people …an aura
